Recently, our hospitalists at Riverwoods Behavioral Health System received an encouraging note from a former patient.
A partner hospital in Florida was able to reduce OBS hours by 7.43 hours per patient, increasing revenue by $269,500 a month.
OBS Unit
At the commencement of the program, HNI staffed the facility's 40-bed OBS Unit with an APP and implemented rounding protocols.
The rounding team includes: HNI APP, Radiology, Laboratory, Nursing, UR Nurse, Physician Advisor, Case Manager, and Cardiology.
OBS Unit Results
Within the first year, HNI's processes and procedures reduced OBS hours to 24.32 hrs per patient from 31.75 hrs. With this increase in conversions, the Hospital now has room to take outpatient cases and move them to OBS.
